Depth of Support | Increased Capacity | Lower Cost
With a depth of church, nonprofit, and for-profit experience, MBS strengthens local churches and nonprofit organizations to be more effective in their missions. There were approximately 1.4 million nonprofit organizations registered with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in 2013, and there were more than 300,000 religious congregations in the United States(1)(2). These organizations have at least three things in common:
- They exist for a greater purpose than selling goods and services for profit. That greater purpose is often referred to as their mission.
- Their leaders must have capacity to further their mission to maximum effectiveness.
- Their entire missions are at-risk without proper attention dedicated to administrative functions. These administrative functions can be referred to as the migraine.
The examples are becoming all-too-frequent of organizations that have been forced to cease operations due to a lack of proper oversight in their administrative responsibilities. Weak financial controls create opportunities for inaccurate financial information, poor financial decisions, or embezzlement. Inadequate insurance fails to cover the loss of a key capital asset to theft, vandalism, or weather. Inadequate volunteer screening results in harm to a child. Each of these risks can be devastating to any organization and to the people it serves.
It is impossible to eliminate all risks. However, there are ways to both minimize your organization’s risks and to strengthen your organization’s ability to serve your target market. Let MBS help take the “migraine out of your mission”.
